Hitting the cobblestone streets in heels

It's that time of year again : late June rolled in and with it, the bi-annual sales began across France. Armed with my first CAF check (French welfare for young people, more or less) in the past half year, last weekend I indulged in two pairs of 70% mark-down, under 20€, real leather shoes. Score one for sale shopping! The first pair was very practical. The second was, how shall we put this?, more of a gift to myself. The shoes was exciting enough to merit an evening out in their honor, so tonight my new heels hit the cobblestone streets of Paris's Latin Quarter. When I was new in town a few years ago, I marveled over the women who braved the cobblestone in such heels. I may not be French, but I realized tonight that I'm no longer as foreign to Paris as I imagine myself to be...
Victorious: my bargain shopping win and I braved Paris's cobblestone streets and returned home successfully after an evening out on the town with friends.
(And yes, my evening did end shortly after midnight, as my *Saturday* morning lectures are scheduled to begin at 9am. Welcome to life as a grad student. At least this isn't a regular thing.)
