Les Heures Musicales

Eglise Saint-Vincent de Paul, Paris Xè
Just a note to say how much I love living in Paris for all the (free!) cultural resources this beautiful city has to offer. I snuck out of an exceptional weekend in lab-- exceptional in that I was in lab, which I try to avoid on weekends. The work's driving me crazy these days! I snuck out to enjoy a free concert at the Eglise Saint-Vincent de Paul, Paris Xè. This weekend's concert was a string trio/quartet with piano accompaniment. The musicians performed Schumann's quintet for piano and strings in E flat major op. 44 and Fauré's quartet for piano and strings nº 1 in C minor op. 15.

Every year the Eglise Saint-Vincent de Paul, Paris Xè runs a full season of classical music concerts ("Les Heures Musicales") completely open to the public in an extraordinary setting: with its glowing gold, intricate, ornate interior, this isn't just any ordinary church. Engulfed by such beauty from the musicians and the church at once, the experience of attending one of these concerts can be a bit of a sensory overload. It's definitely the remedy to make any data analysis melt into oblivion, if only for a little while.
