Our apartment, with the exception of one final set of cables to connect our projector to the computer/DVD player, is at long last complete! Here's the (nearly) finished product:
| The living room, as viewed from the corner where our lamp stands |
| The living room again, as soon from the front entry. Note the projector mounted on the wall in the upper left and the large pull-down screen mounted in the ceiling on the right edge of the photo. This room has undergone a lot of changes since November: we've installed curtain rods and sewed our own curtains, framed and hung various paintings, mounted several shelves along the walls (no small task when your walls are made of concrete), and purchased all sorts of furniture (which proved more or less challenging to make enter into the apartment) including a fancy convertible coffee table which raises and doubles in size to easily seat six for dinner. |
| Our front entry closet doors are far more of a feat than they appear: our closet doors originally were sliding, folding doors which ate our coats whenever we opened the door. That wouldn't do, so we looked for various other solutions yet, with the unusual size of the closet, we couldn't find an affordable replacement. We (mostly Valentin) ultimately dismounted the original doors, sawed down one of the long sides of one door and sanded, bought some hinges, handles, and a lock, and remounted the doors for them to now swing open. We mounted two long mirrors for a finishing touch to make the entry to our apartment feel a bit wider. |
| The kitchen, now fully stocked. |
| The bathroom, new armoire mounted to accomodate for all the goodies we received from a certain aunt over Christmas break and bathing suits hung after our last trip to the pool upstairs |
| Bedroom, chandelier wired and installed by ourselves, shoe rack built and in good use, and bed occupied by one very satisfied cat |
| The view from our rooftop terrace |
| Your eyes do not deceive you, that'd be the Eiffel Tower out the leftmost window of our 30th story indoor pool :) |
And voilà, our new, fully decked-out home.
Hi Emilienne! This is gorgeous :D I am jealous of your pool! - Sophie W.
