To celebrate a friend's special birthday, affectionately called the big 29-B, my gang of friends prettied ourselves up-- yes, boys included-- and went off for an island escape... accessible via the Paris metro. The island in the Seine lies just outside of city borders but feels a world apart. We walked past grassy fields and along flowery wooded paths to reach a gorgeous restaurant which just screams wedding venue. A group of doctoral and post-doctoral science researchers might have no business around such a stylish venue, but the menu prices were surprisingly reasonable, with a main meal plus dessert coming in around 25-30€. The evening was well worth riding the metro to the end of the line.
