Museum challenge: week #5

This weekend is totally packed between yoga, the Nuit Blanche (more on that to come), and an MIT Club de France walking tour I've organized for tomorrow. In between, I managed to squeeze in a rendez-vous with a new MIT arrival in Paris... at a museum. This weekend's museum challenge took us to the Paleontology and Comparative Anatomy wing (Galérie de Paléontologie et Anatomie Comparée) of the Natural History Museum (Musée de l'Histoire Naturelle). The Natural History Museum is composed of several different buildings scattered around the Garden of Plants (Jardin des Plantes) which is open to the public (even over 25 years old!) and is still surprisingly in full bloom.

All in all, the pictures of this museum speak for themselves, but sadly I forgot to capture the most charming aspect: all of the labels of the animals are hand-written in old-time script on yellowed aging tags. It completely made me feel like I'd walked through a time portal as I roamed this wing of the museum.

I walked out of the museum with one more check off the museums-to-see list and a new friend: an afternoon well spent!
